Marshall asked for a recount, however he later conceded the race to Gullion on November 19<sup>th<\/sup> after the election boards new count widened the gap from 5 votes to 9.<a id=\"_ednref1\" href=\"#_edn1\">[1]<\/a> Regardless, even if Marshall had won at a recount the Democrats would still have a majority. He faced a stronger challenger in his primary, former council-member Roger Overbey who just finished his term this month. Monte Murphy also previously served in council and ran in the primary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-959\" srcset=\"https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/munciepostdemocrat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/IMG_0100-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>William \u201cBilly\u201d McIntosh was the only at-large candidate on the Democratic ticket to win. He previously served as president of the UAW Local 287 while working at BorgWarner, as well as Precinct Committee Person of Precinct 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Democrats won a better majority of 6-3, the party informally had that majority prior to November. Republican Troy Ingram frequently sided with and worked with the party\u2019s council members, and leaders of said party hoped he would run again. He was even pushed out of running this year thanks to the GOP, due to minor errors on his paperwork.<a id=\"_ednref2\" href=\"#_edn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other candidates Steve Craig, Norma Norman, Holly Juip and Jeff Robinson were also present at the event. Robinson spoke to the crowd to congratulate the new members just before the oaths started.
