MUNCIE, Ind. \u2014<\/span> A <\/span>change.org petition<\/span><\/a>, promptly titled “Call for Amber Greene to Resign as Director of Communications For the City of Muncie,” has received more than 600 signatures overwhelmingly from the Muncie area. Erica Estoya created the petition in response to a recent Facebook post<\/span><\/a> by Greene regarding complaints of water quality in Muncie<\/span>, but told the Post-Democrat that Greene’s history of “hostility and condescension” in her role with the City of Muncie was also a factor.<\/span><\/p>

Throughout last week, Muncie community members were concerned over the taste and smell of their water. <\/span>Many were critical and skeptical over responses from both <\/span>Indiana American Water<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour<\/span><\/a>\u00a0stating that environmental changes in Prairie Creek Reservoir caused the “earthy” and “musty” taste.\u00a0<\/span>The complaints drove Muncie Communications Director Amber Greene to write her own post talking about high obesity rates in Delaware County and encouraging critics of local government to go to the YMCA.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Estoya\u00a0<\/span>told the Post-Democrat she has many friends in the Muncie area “who have been affected by the water quality and who have confided with me and said that the water quality is poor in April, and it’s not acceptable.”<\/span><\/p>

She also pointed out that Greene recently used the City of Muncie Facebook page to promote a new McDonald’s location<\/span><\/a> coming to Muncie, despite her objection with fast food lines.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Greene is no stranger to attention. On February 2, Post-Democrat editor Daisy Dale allegedly went to the Muncie City Council meeting that evening, supposedly approached the podium to talk about free speech restrictions, and according to an <\/span>*unconfirmed*<\/em> report referred to Amber Greene as “Amber Kantz,” a reference to an extramarital affair between Greene and Matt Kantz, current candidate for Delaware County <\/span>District 3 <\/span>Commissioner. Dale’s statement at the podium included the following remarks:<\/span><\/p>\n

“[Council President] Jeff Green added that council will ‘not put up with language nor attitudes that are incorrect and would cause dissention.’ It’s a bullshit statement for obvious reasons I think, but it’s also massively hypocritical considering council won’t even acknowledge a recent statement made by Communications Director Amber Kantz… sorry Amber Greene, my bad, where she made a lewd sexual joke about transgender people.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Gasps from both sides of the room were heard when the remark was made and Greene left roughly an hour later, giving Dale a “death stare” when she left. <\/span>The incident was put into an <\/span>AI-slop tabloid article by Indianapolis-based outlet the Hoosier Enquirer<\/span><\/a>, where Daisy Dale was unnamed and referred to as “trans activist” and “daughter of Delaware County Democratic Chairman Andrew Dale.” The piece was widely circulated in Facebook community groups and garnered over 8,200 views according to the website’s metrics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greene did not respond to a request for comment for this article.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the piece, Don Chambers, a candidate running against Matt Kantz in the same Republican primary, had a police report filed after Greene yelled and followed him into an elevator at the Delaware County government building, according to said report. Chambers claimed it was because Greene said that him and “other political figures” were writing about the alleged Greene-Kantz affair. She got onto the same elevator as Chambers to say “you’ll be lucky to make it to tomorrow” before they both made it to the first floor. She told him she would “ruin his political career” before walking away, leading Chambers to then wait until the elevator hit the basement floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

On February 23, Chambers was informed that an investigation would not be pursued by the Sheriff’s office. <\/span>Delaware County Council held an executive session the next day concerning “any individual over whom the governing body has jurisdiction to receive information concerning the individual’s alleged misconduct.” While Greene did not lose her role with the City of Muncie or the Delaware County Redevelopment Commission, she was later appointed to the Fair board.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since starting as Communications Director <\/span>in 2024<\/span>, Greene has been frequently criticized. Commenting on social media has been restricted throughout her time running the Facebook page, and livestreamed recordings of public meetings stopped being shared. In late 2024, Greene’s position became one of three that had to be funded with Mayor Ridenour’s EDIT (Economic Development Income Tax) funds after Muncie City Council cut the three positions from the general fund. A year later, after council became majority Republican, the funding for her position was brought back.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
