Despite an Evergreen clause that allows the previous contract to be renewed as is, the Ridenour administration has argued that the previous contract has expired.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-838572e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"838572e\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c00f8ec e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"c00f8ec\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4121684 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4121684\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18.6667px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; text-align: var(--text-align); color: var(--ast-global-color-6);\">The negotiations have become a highly public issue for the last three City Council meetings, when the Ridenour attempted to skip bargaining agreements prior to the June meeting. This happened through a 10% raise that was enacted without an ordinance and instead went through a loose interpretation of state code instead of going through council. reaffirm support by the City Council for renegotiations to continue.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18.6667px;\">Audie Barber, a former Council At-Large candidate and government watchdog, says the resolution passed is ineffective and that more should be done by the Council. At the August 5th meeting he advocated for its members to stop all spending and ordinances from the Mayor&#8217;s office until a contract is settled, essentially as a statement that if the administration wants to hold AFSCME and others hostage they should hold him hostage.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 18.6667px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; text-align: var(--text-align); color: var(--ast-global-color-6);\">Barber told the Post-Democrat &#8220;I just hope the Democratic controlled Council backs their union, because the democrats
