MUNCIE, Ind. —Candidates running in the May primaries for county offices, Indiana House and Senate seats, the Indiana secretary of state position and the 5th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives have been invited to participate in respective public forums.
Muncie Resists is the sponsor of the public forums and has provided this public service
since 2016.
“In 2024, only 18.32% of Delaware County voters participated in the May primary
elections,” said Sarah Vitale, chairwoman of Muncie Resists. “As a result, fewer than 1
in 5 local voters decided who would be on the November ballot. We need many more
citizens to vote in the primaries. That is why Muncie Resists is committed to educating
voters about the primary candidates, so they can go to the polls before or on May 5
confident for whom they will vote.”
At each forum, audience members will ask the questions of candidates. Each forum
also will start at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church,
4800 W. Bradford Drive, Muncie.
The first public forum will feature candidates for Delaware County Council and Delaware
County Commission on Monday, March 9.
Candidates running for other county offices, including sheriff, county clerk, assessor and
coroner, will be available at the second public forum on Monday, March 16.
At the third public forum on Thursday, March 19, candidates for state representative and
state senator will be available to answer voters’ questions.
The final public forum will be Monday, March 30, and feature candidates running for
Indiana secretary of state and for the 5th District of the U.S. House of Representatives.
