MUNCIE, Ind. — In partnership with the Indiana Democratic Party, Delaware County’s local leadership will host “The People’s Town Hall” in response to damaging state legislation being passed. The event is free of charge and will take place on May 17th at the Patterson Block.
The upcoming event will feature a panel of speakers that includes District 34 representative Sue Errington, Chairwoman of the Indiana Democratic Party Karen Tallian, and more unannounced panelists. Focused on legislation passed in Indiana by its Republican-majority House and Senate, party leaders are hoping to engage the public who are worried about upcoming economic changes in the state such as the contentious SB 1.

The announcement comes as the local party continues to make itself more active throughout the area. In recent weeks the party has hosted several volunteer call out meetings with the hope of giving more opportunities to party members.
Many in the party believe it to be a turn in how the local party has worked over the last few years. Andrew Dale stated in their press release: “This is an opportunity to push through angst and frustration and move toward meaningful and achievable solutions that demonstrate that the Democratic Party is fighting for those negatively impacted by the dangerous and impracticable policies of the Indiana supermajority legislature.”
