We recently discovered that the Post-Democrat website, hopefully by means of views and clicks, is now the second first thing to come up when you Google search “Muncie Post-Democrat.” The other results are links to the original paper, and in the first few months this site could never show up on a first page basis. The website was almost completely obsolete without Facebook shares. This, I can only assume, will be one of our best milestones at this early stage of running a website. And this also comes at a time of an announcement:
We at the Post-Democrat has a full-time job. Please be patient, and there will be procrastination. In the past few weeks this website has focused on long-term projects instead of jumping into every ambulance in sight. This has led to an internal debate between me, myself, and I. The long-term projects are historical ones, and although this wasn’t intended to only be a nostalgia shop, it’s in many ways a better investment than scrambling notes together in just a few hours.
So what are we announcing here? Well, remember our line “under budget, understaffed, and infrequent”? Yep. that’s all. The Post-Democrat even in its hay day never caved to becoming an eight-page daily, it was only a weekly that still managed to lose track. And that’s the ideal work ethic above all. We knew this would slow down at various points, and most of you ought to be wishing that it did more often.
