It was reported Saturday that billionaire Elon Musk’s latest ketamine escapade will be the forming of his own political party with a platform to the right of the Republican Party. The “America Party” would start running candidates in the 2026 midterms, potentially splitting Republican votes, and the Post-Democrat encourages anyone in the Hoosier state interested in that ticket to please start looking for candidates!

If this is in fact accomplished, the best part is that this isn’t a “moderate” wing splitting from the MAGA base, but a essentially a second blob of Sillicon Valley con men, with a bakers dose of crackpot Locofocos. At best for Musk it would be a larger swath of quasi-libertarian voters, but ultimately it’s a death cult sizeable to Trump loyalists, and even with support from Never Trump Republicans it would still destroy either parties chances of winning.

When I was in high school we had this annoying kid who refused to stop talking about the most niche identities on the political spectrum. He would just pride himself in knowing what a “technofeudal monarchist” is, all because his parents didn’t. If this is the future of this country, let them be the incoherent vanguards they’ve always dreamed of. Even if it’s just for 2026 and it fizzles, that’s all we need.

Knowing how great their chances would be against a split party, it would be in the Democratic Party’s best interests not to split its own left-wing base from the moderates and inside traders. This still depends on success from the Left between both the NYC election this year and the primaries next year, and there will still be pushback by political consultants with the most banal and thoughtless messaging, but pushing against that combined with Musk being a raving utterfuck is what we need right now.

Here’s where you step in: Between now and the midterms, do absolutely everything you can in the Hoosier state to encourage anyone supporting the idea of an America Party to just do it. Whether that means bullying these people into it or acting like you yourself support it, let their factionalism bring an end in sight.
